Secures Endorsement of Assembly Majority Leader Joseph D. Morelle, Deputy Assembly Speaker Earlene Hooper, and Mount Vernon City Council President Lisa Copeland
NEW YORK -- Following the announcement of Public Advocate Tish James’ campaign for Attorney General yesterday, three important leaders from across New York State have endorsed her for Attorney General. Assembly Majority Leader Joseph D. Morelle (representing parts of Rochester and Monroe County), Deputy Assembly Speaker Earlene Hooper (representing parts of Nassau County), and Mount Vernon City Council President Lisa Copeland announced their endorsement of Tish James.
“Our campaign will go to every corner of this great state to earn the people's support. As our Attorney General, I will fight to ensure that the rights of all New Yorkers in every county are always protected. I am honored to have the support of these leaders as we continue our work together to move New York forward,” said Public Advocate Tish James .

From her days as a public defender, to her tenure as an Assistant Attorney General, to her work in elected office, Tish James has been an exemplary public servant. She’ll make a great Attorney General who looks out for New Yorkers in every corner of our state. I am proud to endorse Tish James and urge all New Yorkers to support Tish for Attorney General,” said Assembly Majority Leader Joseph D. Morelle .

From my district, to Long Island, to every region of our state, we can count on Tish James to be the ‘people’s lawyer’ and make us all proud,” said Deputy Assembly Speaker Earlene Hooper .

Tish has been a fearless and independent leader throughout her career in public service and I am honored to endorse her for Attorney General," said Mount Vernon City Council President Lisa Copeland .
This comes on the heels of significant union support that the campaign announced immediately upon launch. Tish James was endorsed by three powerful labor unions representing tens of thousands of New York working families: Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) (representing 45,000 workers in New York State, and 100,000 workers nationwide); New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) (representing 42,000 workers in New York State); and CWA Local 1180 (representing 8,600 workers in New York State and an additional 6,200 retirees).
