In the Face of Kavanaugh Confirmation, Tish James Vows to Use New York Attorney General's Office to Fight Trump's Abuses

NEW YORK -- In response to the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh as the next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, Democratic Attorney General nominee Letitia “Tish” James vowed to take action:

“This is a sad day in our country. But our actions can bring light to this travesty, and justice to this injustice.

"With Republicans failing to stand up to Trump, it's up to states like New York to take on his Constitutional abuses. While Kavanaugh has been approved by the Senate, he cannot and will not prevent New York State from safeguarding our rights.

"As the next Attorney General, I will investigate Trump's Constitutional abuses and his shady business practices in New York. And I will sue the President each time this Administration violates the laws and the Constitution of our country.

"I believe women, and the stories of sexual assault survivors must continue to be told. Survivors will continue to be brave by stepping out of the shadows and into the light. We will not allow them to be silenced.

"From the courtroom to the ballot box, we will continue to fight back and to stand up to this destructive presidency and anyone who chooses to deny us our rights."
