Eleanor’s Legacy Endorses Letitia “Tish” James for New York State Attorney General

NEW YORK -- With just 26 days until the 2018 midterm elections, Eleanor’s Legacy -- an organization that recruits, trains, and funds pro-choice Democratic women candidates across New York -- today endorsed Democratic Attorney General nominee Letitia “Tish” James. In its endorsement, the organization cited Tish’s strong support for a woman’s right to choose and for safe, accessible reproductive healthcare.

“Throughout her career, Tish has stood on the frontlines of the fight for women’s rights. She has rallied, marched, and protested -- and she has done real policy-focused work to advance the cause. As Attorney General, we know that Tish will have women’s backs, from investigating fake ‘crisis pregnancy clinics’ to enforcing buffer zones around reproductive health centers to taking legal action against those who discriminate against women. That’s why we are proud to endorse her candidacy today,” said Brette McSweeney, President of Eleanor’s Legacy.

“Women’s rights are human rights, and we cannot let anyone -- especially the President of the United States -- undermine them. As Attorney General, I will use every tool at my disposal to protect access to reproductive healthcare. I will stand up to anyone who tries to take us backwards, from Donald Trump to violent anti-abortion protestors in New York. Eleanor’s Legacy has been instrumental in the struggle to advance women’s rights here in the Empire State, and I am honored to earn their endorsement,” said Democratic Attorney General nominee Letitia “Tish” James.

Tish James has previously been endorsed by EMILY’s List; the National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH) PAC; the National Organization for Women (NOW), New York Chapter; Planned Parenthood Empire State Votes PAC; and Higher Heights of America, among other women’s groups.

In July, Tish James released a policy platform outlining how she will use the Attorney General’s office to aggressively protect a woman’s right to choose, investigate fake crisis pregnancy clinics, and work with other Attorneys General to fight against attacks on women’s healthcare.
